Travel Requirements

as of June 1, 2022

(Requirements may change; please check back just prior to your trip to ensure that you have the most up to date information)

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you on your vacation. Please read the information below carefully to be sure that you are aware of any requirements before, during and after your trip. Guidance for all destinations is below followed by country specific requirements. Failure to comply with any required guidelines may result in problems returning to North America at the end of your trip.

Mandatory Requirements for Travel

  • All CIE Tours guests are required to be fully vaccinated (defined as having received all recommended doses in their primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine) and carry digital or printed proof with them to show as needed.  Because the definition of “fully vaccinated” may change between now and departure, we recommend that all guests plan to receive a booster dose before travel.

    • Children who do not qualify for vaccination must be able to produce a verifiable negative COVID-19 test result in the form of written documentation (paper or electronic copy). The negative test result must show that the test was conducted within 72 hours before the start of the trip.
  • Each guest must complete a CIE Tours Pre-Trip Health Questionnaire. See a sample here, but the actual form will be included in your documentation packet to be sent approximately two weeks prior to departure.
  • Ensure that your passport is current and will be valid for at least six months after returning home from your trip. Note that the average processing time for a United States passport is usually six to eight weeks, but COVID-19 related delays may increase this to 12-18 weeks. Read more here.

Air Travel

  • Return flights to the U.S: In order to return to the United States, the CDC requires that all passengers present a negative COVID-19 viral test (PCR or rapid antigen), taken no more than 24 hours prior to departure, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider stating that you were cleared to travel. Read more here.
    • Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recent recovery for all passengers prior to boarding and will deny boarding to passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery.
    • For guests on guided coach vacations, CIE Tours will help facilitate the necessary testing to meet CDC guidelines, but travelers will be responsible for cost of the test payable at time of administration. Your Tour Director will have more information while on tour.
  • Return flights to Canada: As of April 1, 2022, fully vaccinated travelers no longer need to provide a negative pre-entry COVID-19 test result to enter Canada. Read more here.

On the Road

While specific protocols may vary from location to location, some general guidelines will be followed:
  • Based on conditions in destination, you may either be required or strongly encouraged to wear a face mask at certain points during your tour.  If the use of face masks is recommended or required at the time of travel, we will follow those guidelines and you should be prepared to bring face coverings with you.
  • The interiors of our coaches will be sanitized daily, including regular cleaning of high-touch areas and surfaces.
  • Scheduled stops will facilitate frequent hand washing and hand sanitizer will be available at all times.
  • 100% of airflow on coaches will come from circulation of fresh air from outside the vehicle
Hotels & Visits
  • Each hotel and visitor attraction will have their own COVID-19 guidelines in place.
  • Your guide will keep you informed on the specifics of each destination, and you are asked to comply with these requirements at all times.
  • At hotels, guest rooms will be disinfected thoroughly between stays and common areas such as lobbies, elevators, restaurants, and fitness centres will be cleaned throughout each day.
Our Team
  • Our Tour Directors are not only local experts but are also trained to handle a variety of unexpected situations - including illnesses and emergencies. They are thoroughly trained on enhanced hygiene and physical distancing procedures and will ensure that guests know what to expect every step of the way.
  • If any issues arise, we have systems and protocols in place and the Tours Directors also have extensive support from our Dublin Operations team to enhance local support.
